History
Molière's favourite town in the Languedoc is a captivating architectural grouping : medieval-looking streets, craftsmen's workshops, inner courtyards of town houses, and limestone, golden under the sun, that beckons you to its coolness and to step into the past. Molière's past of course, but also that of Boby Lapointe, the real native of these parts, a singer and a wizard with the French language.

Monuments!
That's not what you should come looking for, here it's a way of life, with fine buildings yes, but not a historical town. Some fifty aristocratic town houses in every style that make large towns green with envy. Here age-old traditions are still in current use (the ancient Tambourin bat-and-ball game of tennis type, totemic animals, and the "langue d'oc" ancient southern French dialect). These assets earned us the Land of Artistic and Historic Interest label in 2002, after that of City of Artistic Interest in 1950.

In summer, the "Ronde des Arts" (Mirondela dels Arts) offers shows and exhibitions; in autumn, after the Heritage Days in September, Pézenas holds its "Festival de l'Image des Métiers" every first weekend in October. This is a short film competition about crafts and skills that is open to the public, with demonstrations by craftsmen all around the town at the same time.
An event that should not be missed!
